Choosing new destinations to explore and planning the trip can feel overwhelming. There’s planning for transportation while there, accomodations, activities, food… how do you know the best places to go or where to stay? The best resources are from people who have been there or from the locals. There are some really good websites that offer reviews of activities and places such as Tripadvisor or Trekaroo. I also like to find travel blogs so I can get more than the thumbs up or thumbs down rating on any given spot.
As part of Mondays are for Dreaming series hosted on Mother of All Trips, I would like to list some cities or places that I dream of going, and some of the top blogs/websites I have found that write specifically about that destination. This, I hope, will kill two birds with one stone. By doing the research, I hope to be better equipped to plan a trip to a place that I dream about visiting. Also, I hope this will be a helpful reference tool for those planning to travel there too. I can easily lose hours on the computer flipping around from website to website trying to get the inside scoop from as many sources as I can. By listing my favorite finds, I hope to save you some screen time so you can spend more time narrowing down what’s right for you. And, of course, you will also hear of our own experiences for those destinations we do end up going to.
First stop this year… San Diego. Here are some websites that I thought provided the most information on visiting San Diego:

What a great idea – kind of like public list keeping.
I haven’t been to San Diego since I had kids, but imagine it would be a great place to visit with them. When I was there I stayed in Coronado, which was beautiful, fun, and very easy to cover on a bike.
I think that Debbie at Delicious Baby has some good resources too: http://www.deliciousbaby.com/travel/usa/ca/san-diego/
Yes, I agree. Debbie’s city guide for San Diego, as well as her other city guides, are a great example of an insider’s view. I appreciate the follow up.
