We recently took a trip to the Nimbus Fish Hatchery in Rancho Cordova, Ca. You can read more about our adventure there. In honor of Photo Friday I thought I would include a photo of the first time our oldest went fishing.
We were at Camp Sacramento, a family camp that my family had gone to for many years of my childhood. A river runs through the property which offers some good fishing opportunities. Ryan was very excited to try his luck at casting. He even did well at holding onto the pole when a fish tugged at the bait. His concentration held as his dad helped him reel in his first struggling fish. The moment that fish came close to shore, though, that boy ran about as far from the river bank as he could. This picture is of the second fish he and his dad caught. He was a little more willing to stand nearby for the picture, but wouldn’t touch the fishing pole. (Even less willing to touch the fish on his plate after the chef fried it up.) I have to admit, I was just as squimish when catching my first fish, and quite a few (like twenty) years older. Don’t worry kiddo, when you get older we’ll do our own fishing at the nearby sushi restaurant.
Thanks to Debbie for hosting Photo Friday at Delicious Baby. Check out her site for more travel photos.
I cried and made my dad throw my first fish back into the water. That was the last time I fished. I love the idea of fishing, I just can’t deal with the deadly consequences. I am too much of a softy.
Afraid to admit it here, but fishing did my head in. I could never get used to sitting still and not speaking. Still can’t do it now. I like the idea of fishing at the local sushi place
