Looking Local

School has recently begun for us, which narrows my opportunities of when to plan multi-day trips. But I am not ready to give up exploring, so I’m thinking of using Wednesdays to plan local outings. I don’t know how many I will find that are appropriate for kids as young as mine.  As I write down some ideas, one seems to spark another, so I hope this will be a plan that keeps growing.

Pictured here is an old schoolhouse in Sacramento. The first time I visited this with the kids, neither one was in school. Hard to get a perspective of how different school was if you have never been. But this might be a place worth revisiting. I am reminded of my own first day of school. On many occasions, the first day held some excitement about what the coming year might bring. As I think about this “Where to Wednesdays” idea, some of that early school year excitement returns. Seems like a very good sign.

I like that idea very much and have done it myself in the past – last year it was “Fridays with Teddy” on my blog.

He’s in preschool every day this year, but I’m thinking I’ll still try to plan some afternoon trips. I don’t know what I’ll do next year when both kids are in school all day every day!

Can’t wait to see what you discover…

Right now I’m struggling with finding ways to keep a 16 month old busy/stimulated, while the 3YO is in preschool a few days a week. It will become even more difficult as the warm turns to cold!
